Dropping rear end, need some help

I've got the flex line cut, shocks off, driveshaft unbolted, springs out, E brake unhooked and all I have to do is remove the torque arm and the arms attached to the rear end, but I would like to reuse the bushings, how do I go about removing the bolts without having to cut the arms?

I don't understand the problem. You were able to take out the shocks, springs, driveshaft, but you aren't sure how to get the control arm/panhard rod bolts out?

Re: Dropping rear end, need some help

Well to put this lightly... I just cleaned up a 10 Bolt 7.5 Posi that was given to me, someone had torched off the control arms, and left the bolts in. In order to get them out, we had to hack off the nut side with a cutoff wheel, and grind the head off with a grinder, and then pound out the remaining pieced.. It wasn't fun..

Why couldn't you just take the nut off the bolt and slide it out?

I still have no clue what you are trying to do or what the problem is...

Re: Dropping rear end, need some help

I had to grind off one of the bolt heads.. As i was pounding it through it stopped at a certain point and would no longer move. What now, Do I just torch the rear end off?

Re: Dropping rear end, need some help

To clarify this, I cannot seem to remove the bolts holding the rear control arms, and torque arms. They have a taper in them, and I don't understand how to get them out, is there a trick to it?

Re: Dropping rear end, need some help

Same thing happened to me, I cut the head of the bolt, then I had to cut the bolt on the other side with a hacksaw (inbetween the mount and the bushing on the nut side). You can't slide the bolt out by cutting the head off, you can try to cut the nut off, and then try to get the bolt to slide out toward the head side of the bolt. But it's probably rusted in there pretty good. No point in trying to save the bushing, most likely it needs to be replaced anyways.

Ahhh! It makes sense now.. They aren't rusted in, but I couldn't figure out why it was so difficult to get it out with the head cut off. Thanks a ton man.

Re: Dropping rear end, need some help

I just did this to my car, and that part is a 2 man job, i sprayed pb blaster on the bolts all day, and got a huge adjustable wrench to hold eh head of the bolt and took my biggest breaker bar to the nut. Its a pain in the ***, but eventually the move out.
