Just ordered a new RAM clutch, which comes with a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty, but to validate the warranty I must have the flywheel resurfaced. Where can this be done and how much should I expect it to cost? I'm in northeast ohio if anyone has a place to reccomend. Do I have to have it resurfaced? What are the consequences if I dont?

I paid 35 bucks to have mine done,you should always resurface with a new cltuch disc IMO..

Check your local autoparts stores. If you have a NAPA near by they should be able to do it for somewhere around $20-$40. No, you don't have to resurface it but expect clutch chatter and premature disc wear.

 

make sure they only take off just enough to get any high spots out. Sometimes they will grind it down a set amount no matter how much it really needs. If you ever go below the tolerance thickness of the flywheel you will have major clutch chatter and either have to buy spacers or get a new flywheel as I had to do.

Whoa I didn't know RAM has a warranty! My disc blew up after two summers of driving! I just replaced it and moved on. DANG!

 

You have to resurface the flywheel so it doesn't eat up the new disc. Check out your local auto parts stores to see if they will do it.
