Borg-Warner 9 bolt Need Info!

I have a 9 bolt from an '89GTA. It has 3.27 gears in it. I think it's a 7.75. But don't really know. Need information on where to find parts or a manual. Any info would be great. Thanks.

there aren't very many gear sets made for the 9 bolt. not sure but i think slp makes them. i ithnk you're limited to about 2 or 3 differant ratios and the cost is high for them.

Randys Ring and Pinion makes a set of 3.70. Good customer service too.

Jeg's had the lowest price when I bought mine 2 years ago. I called all the different drivetrain suppliers/distributors around the country as well as some well known shops and nobody was close. They may tell you they don't have it at first but just have them check. It's made by U.S. Gear and I remember the part number ends with bw. Precision gear sold the lowest complete overhaul kit at the time which included all the timken bearings and seals except for the axles. Those only cost me 12 bucks a side at Auto Zone and that was for Timkens. Also I do want to clarify that there are several ratio's made for the Borg Warner 78 series rearend (commonly known as the 9 bolt). They were very popular with Holden (GM's Austrailian Line) and have been used for about 25-30 years there. They're literally as common as 10 bolts there. I know that they even made 4.10 ratio's as well as different types of differential carriers. I used to have a ****-load of info on these rearends that I had compiled but I deleted it one day when I was frustrated. I'll see if I can't find some and post some more info.

After I busted the pinion in my 9-bolt this summer I rebuilt it with 3.70 gears. Strange was the cheapest with the Gears and the Installation kit together at about $400.
