T5 swap into my GTA.............
I was wondering if anyone had ever done this. I got everything I need out of a 87 camaro that had a 305 TBI. So I have all the stuff I need in terms of equipment. Do I need to change out anything in the computer???? and is there anything I need to llok for before I start the swap ??? Can anyone recommend a good cluth that will stand up to a highly modified TPI 350? Thanks in advance for any advice.

if you have everything from the doner car, the only issue you will have is that the camaro had a speedo cable and the gta has an electic sender for the speedo.
The centerforce dual friction seems to be a common choice, im using a zoom kevlar race clutch and love it. however the trans will probably break long before the clutch breaks.

I know the GTAs have the TCC plug in for the 700R4. Is that going to affect the way it runs if the computer isn't getting a return signal??? Isn't there a box or something to convert the cable to a electronic signal so my speedo will read the signal....

There is a VSS sensor that fits into the cable drive opening. I remember pulling one off a T5 in a bird awhile back. Just slipped right in where the cable drive went.
Here is link to one. Problem is, no drive gear. You will need to find one and I'm told they are getting very hard to come by.

Re: T5 swap into my GTA.............
I put a 3.4 in my 5 speed 4X4 S10 truck from a 5 speed '94 Camaro. I used the SFI system and computer and adapted it to the truck. The computer had a wire that went to a clutch pedal switch, which I hooked up after I got tired of seeing the check engine light. I needed a speed signal for the computer, but I needed to keep the speedometer cable for the mechanical speedometer. I bought an adapter from JTR that screws into the speedometer drive. It sends a signal to the computer, but allows me to use the speedometer cable too. I think mine is a 4 puls. I think they had a 2 puls too.
