Ok here is my delemia. I bought a 700r4 transmission since my first one was shot. For my 1986 camaro. Come to find out the one i bought has electronic speedometer. and the one i have is cable. I heard you can just change the box out and put it in the other one. Is this true. Or do i have to change the tailhousing or what. Been looking all night for the info on this and couldn't find nothing. There both 30spline the one i have is a late 86 and the one i bought is 89. Which i know will be better for my car. Just wondering if my info was correct since they both are the same and they bolt up the same. Just wondering if thats all there is and that easy or is there something different. Mind you i have the tranny out and the town is on me about getting the vehicle fixed since i guess there is an ordiance on working on vehicles on the roadway near my house. Any info plz help . much appreciated.

 

just need to know if i can change the cable sensor from the electronic sensor on the transmisson that is a 700r4 please any info much appreciated.

 

yes... remove the VSS from the "new" tranny and put yours in. When you're doing this make sure the gear inside is the same color as your old one.

 

Its wasn't so i kepted the gear that was in it and put it on my cable one. seems like everything is fine but my speedometer might be off. ty for the info. i am going to have a friend clock me to find out if or how much of a diff it is. but :P great news my tranny i put in is working great.
