Thumping sound?

I have a 92 RS with automatic transmission and when I shift from park and go to drive, I head a soft thump. Is this a problem? Also, sometimes when I shift to drive the car sits, then I feel it jerk forward slightly. Is this normal or is this also a problem? If these are problems, what can I do to fix it? Any help is welcome, thanks.

The hump you could copuld be caused by a broken or loose tranny bushing in the center of the crossmember. this happened to me and it is fairly easy to fix. as for the slow shift into gear, check the trannsmission fluid and see how the level is.
