TH350/700R4 tranny mount

Im swapping my IROC's 700R4 into my 68 C10 this weekend. The truck currently has a TH350. Anyone know if that tranny mount will bolt up to the 700R4 or are they different mounts?

Thanks

You will have to move the crossmember back approximatly 1 inch, or find a cross member out of a truck like yours that originally had a TH400 and elongate the holes. The TH700R4s case length is 30 3/4 inches to the TH350s 27 3/4 inch case so you will probably have to shorten the drive shaft too. But when you get it all figured out, won't that overdrive be sweet in your truck! Good luck!

Well swapping from a 700 to a TH350 is easy to do since you can buy an adapter to allow you to use a 700 tail housing on a TH350 tranny which also makes the tranny the EXACT same length as the original 700 so there's no mods need for that!! I don't know about swapping from TH350 to 700 tho'!! I would say the cross member would have to be moved an the driveshaft definitely shortened! You MIGHT be able to use the driveshaft outta the IROC, but I doubt it!!

200,000+ miles (speedo/odometer non-funtional! Odometer reads 142,000)
4 Wheel Discs
9 bolt Borg Warner Rear (2.73's....oh joy) :P
Completely Stock
Soon to upgrade to a 350 converted from TPI to Carb, Edelbrock 750CFM Carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, Headman Shorty Headers, Some sort of ported heads (undecided), XE268 Cam, Moroso HEI ignition kit with external MSD Blaster II Coil and an MSD 6-AL Box!!
Current project: Keeping my 305 running until I get my income tax returns!

Thanks for the help. My question is simply will the TH350 tranny mount(not crossmember) work on a 700R4? Ive got my TV cable, lock-up switch etc all ordered. I think Ill have to take a little over 3" off my driveshaft but Ill measure that when I swap it in. This swap turns into double pleasure for me. The TH350 is all but dead. So instead of a rebuild, I bought a T56 and put that in the IROC over the holidays. Now I get to drop an OD tranny from the IROC into the truck. Both vehicles are happy and the driver sure is also!

Lock, yep a standard GM trans mount will work. I busted mine a while back and got a poly mount from summit. they are alot stronger than the rubber ones and have a metal band to keep it from seperating if it does break. My 85 Z-28 i sold to by brother, has a 355 and a 5 speed. I broke a mount in it also and the local parts store wanted to sell me some $85.00 fluid filled junk. Yeah right. I'd just grab a poly one. You can get from summit for $20.95 or you can get it and the poly motor mounts to for $59.69. Good luck. Oh yeah read your sig this time, bet that 86 hauls a$$.

Heh, that's funny... fluid filled? What, did the parts store guy think an f-body was a smooth vibration-less luxury car?
