t56 clutch assembly
t56 clutch assembly
I am installing a t56 in my 90 iroc. The t56 is from a 96 camaro ss. I had a friend that did a swap with a 93 camaro t56. When he bought new slave and master cylinders for the hydraulic clutch, it all came together in a single pre charged assembly. I’ve checked with several places to get the same assembly for a 96 transmission, but every place I call doesn’t carry a whole pre charged assembly for this year transmission – I have to buy all the parts separate and put it together myself. I know there are at least two different types of hydraulic assemblies for the LT1/t56 trans. Which year did they change over? Does any one know a part number for a complete clutch assembly for a 96 trans? Do they even make one? I can easily get the master cylinder and slave cylinder, as individual parts, from any of these parts places. What other parts will I need to make the installation complete?
Thanks, Bill
Thanks, Bill
I can't help you out too much, but I was able to get the clutch cylinders for 125$ pre assembled and bled from a GM dealer. I have no idea what the differences are between the two designs(neither will the dealer), but my clutch does have a very short travel. It disengages fine, but it's just a short throw. I think this may have something to do with the difference. Mine's a 95. Good luck.
