Torsen install help
Okay, I have my SLP take-off Torsen. Now I have some questions:
1. It came with the inner races of the side bearings on it. Can I leave these in place and use my old outer races? The Helm manual says not to, but is that being too picky and has anyone done that?
2. The Helm also says not to reuse the existing ring gear bolts. Why? Are new ones really necessary if the old ones aren't damaged?
Thanks.

It came with the INNER RACE? Axle bearings look just like wheel bearings. The inner race has the roller bearings on it, and its all held together by the cage. The outer race is the only seperate part.
As for re-using the old races, why bother, you have to take them out anyway, why not put the new ones in? Its just like flat lifters, the base doesn't usually "look" worn, but would you throw a new cam in there and re-use the old lifter? If you are going to do something, do it right. Doing things Half-@ssed is only wasting your money.

Thats pretty crappy. I don't reccomend using old outer races on new bearings, but it it means having to buy new bearings, then as long as the old outer races were not damaged or excessively worn out in any way, than you should be OK.
