I have a shift kit and i'm wanting to manually shift with the stock shifter until I can get a ratchet shifter. The problem is that the stock shifter won't engage 2nd or 1st. The last detent that I come to is Drive. Any quick fix for this or am I out of luck until I can get an aftermarket unit?

 

Yes if you unhook the shift linkage from the trans and put the trans in park then put the shifter in park position, than hook it up you should be ok for now

 

How would this change anything? Park is lined up...

 

well i have had a third gen with the same trans in it and this is how i had it if your not getting all of your gears than some else is wrong !!

 

I'll see what I can do. The gears are there, I just can't select them.
