what about a 5 spd from a 4th gen 3800, how strong is it
How much torque/hp can this tranny take, would it be a good buy to put behind a v8, can it be built up any. Please help me out on this.

I think the V6 T5 from a 3800 is a BOP bolt pattern, meaning it wont bolt up to a Chevy V8 without an adaptor. But, I also think the V6 T5 is the non world class version, which isnt as strong. Try to find a 88-92 world class T5 from a thirdgen.

ooh, that 5spd from the current V6 F body is a red-headed step child if there ever was one. First, the input shaft length is the same as the Ford t5 input shaft, but it has the GM input bearing retainer and splines on the shaft. Plus it is rotated 17 degrees. So if you use this one, you need a plate adapter (to compensate for length) and it still does not use a mechanical spedometer provision. This trans is better left avoided. (low gear is something like 3.75:1 I think, its on the www.TTCautomotive.com website) if you have your heart set on a 5 spd, go to Fortes and get the Tremmec.
