spider gears
I was wondering if It is better to have both wheels spinning all the time instead of only during a straight line like posi.
what is the dangers. I was thinking of welding the spider gears to the axles in a way that both wheels spin all the time.

If all you do is drive straight, it might work. However, you might have to turn sometime. When turning, the outside wheel must turn faster than the inside wheel. Welding the spiders won't let the diff allow one wheel to spin faster than the other. This creates enormous strain on everything in the rear-end, especially on dry pavement(tires don't want to slip very easy). Expect to break some parts and have difficulty turning if you do this. This is a fairly common practice in some dirt track race cars, but on the dirt the tires are able to slip a little bit.
On the street, don't do it. Toss in a powertrax locker.

A.K.A Lincoln Locker
Ummm... BAD! As he said in the prev post, when you turn the corner with a locked rear, you're forcing one tire to skip to make up for the speed differece - makes for sh*t turns and busted rear ends/axles. If you insist on doing this, get a spool (and some really strong axles).
The PowerTrax is a good suggestion...
