jerk when changing to drive
I dont know if this is a common problem as the car gets older cause my brothers trans does the same thing...when you move to reverse or overdrive or anyything except for parking and neutral the car jerks....the jerk is only to kick in whatever you put it in but when you are driving it runs good.....im sorry about the poor explanation but i just got my car about 3 months ago....does anyone have any suggestions about what it may be?

my RS (below) and my friends Sport coupe from 86 both did the same thing...we'd sit in the school parking lot and scare ricers playing with it......does it like squat to the left front in reverse then squat to the right rear in drive? if thats what it does i'd like to know if it means something bad...i've hadn't had any other problems with the tranny.....yet....

Car: 88 Firebird WS6
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42
The hard slam into reverse or drive is normal for the older trnnies. In 87 1/2 they upgraded them. One of the upgrades was a seperate valve body and accumulator to soften this.
