Convertor Installed--Have a Question

I just got my convertor installed. Its a Vigilante 2800 stall.
My trans had previously been rebuilt with a shift kit and vette servo.
Now the trans shifts so early I can't even feel it.
Can I adjust the shift points by adjusting the TV cable?
Thanks

Bob

Yes and No. The tv is not the best way to change shift points. It's adjustment range is small and it also controls shift firmness, tv boost, and pump output. Making the cable shorter will increase the preceding variables. It is something to play with and it doesn't cost anything, butttt To change shift points without effecting shift firmness you need to jack around with governor weights and springs. But it sounds like you want it to shift firmer which means you have to do whatever "heavy duty" mods recomended by your shift kit manufacturer, or hit up the aftermarket for the vette servo and whatnot.

By adjusting the TV cable tighter the shifts will get later & firmer. The TV cable adjustment will will change the WOT shift points & firmness if not correctly. Once adjusted and you find the WOT shift points too early or too late then you will need to work with the governor weights in most cases to correct the problem. Sometimes you will need to change the shift timing springs to get the exact WOT shift points. If you have any questions call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad Too Help!!!

Thanks but I just figured out that the TV cable was not even hooked up to the throttle body. Oops! I hooked it up but since it decided to snow today I can't take it out for a run. I hate winter.
Thanks again.

Would it have hurt the trans at all by driving it with the TV cable unhooked?
I didn't really drive all that far but long enough to know that something wasn't right.
Thanks

It's not really good for them. Especially if you had your foot in it hard a couple times. The low pressure decreases the clamping loads and may allow the clutches to slip and glaze/varnish possibly overheating and warping the steels. If you drove like grandma would there's no prob....

Sorry for scarin' ya it's probably fine, but these things could happen..... If driven for long periods of time with the TV unhooked.

Ok I hooked up the TV cable and everything works fine. I'm starting another post to let everyone know what I think of a high stall convertor.
Thanks guys.
