rpms @ various speeds for '91 Rs

Hey, just got a '91 Camaro Rs 3.1 liter V6 and need to determine whether the transmission is functioning normally. Can someone give me an idea of the average rpms that it should run at different speeds? Is 3500 high for 60 mph?

Thanks!

3500 @ 60 MPH is high. If it is a Auto, you should be at 1000 RPM's @ 40 MPH in OD.

That's not correct. With the torque converter locked, and the speedometer accurate, my sister's 3.1 Firebird turns 2000 rpm exactly at 65 mph on the original 215/65R15-size tires. So 1000 rpm would be 32.5 mph, but hers won't do less than 35 in OD, with the throttle valve cable set where she likes the way the car behaves.

Thanks. I think the tac might just be wrong; the needle kinda vibrate even when the car's not moving. It's actually reading 3000 @ 60 w/ 70/15s. How much of a difference does that make? It is an auto.
