Posi question
Posi question
now im really confused!
what does the posi aditive do?
add friction or lower friction?
earlier on this forum, some one said that if you have a worn out posi you can put regular gear oil in to solve the problem? my posi is acting like its kind of worn out and i really can afford to deal w/ the nine bolter right now

89' Firebird Formula WS6 L98, MSD 6AL MSD Blaster, Hypertech chip, K/N filter cone, flowmaster 80 series, hypertech air foil, koni shocks, edelbrock trailing arms
more to come soon.....

it is a friction enhancer for the clutch pack
i wouldn't believe everything you read on here and i would be running a clutch type posi without gm posi additive in my gear oil.

Ede,
Can you straighten me out? I thought the posi-additive was used in clutch type posi's to allow the cluthes to slip to allow proper differentiation when going around corners. The way to do this is to reduce the friciton between the plates and that what I thought the posi additive or "friction modifier" was for.

I second 89blwnRS.
I think it is a friction reducer to allow smoother operation. Try running the rear without it-not permantly, just a test. It pops and makes noises because the clutches aren't slipping when needed.
