FREAKIN 9-BOLTS!!!!!!!
FREAKIN 9-BOLTS!!!!!!!
Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm getting pissed off!! I just bought a disc brake rear out of an 86 TA. It's not posi, but I bought it because it had disc brakes and I figured I could find some type of locker or limited slip for it because I've never had any problem finding aftermarket parts for a GM before. Has anybody found some type of posi? I wrote to powertrax but they said they don't offer anything. How bout some type of standard limited slip? Anything, I'm running out of options. If not, I have a rear for sale. Make me an offer.

Thats wierd, I thought all the 9 bolts were posi? I just got one from the junk yard the other day, its a posi but i'm missing all the disk brake stuff but the backing plates.
Maybe you can get a replacement limited slip form borg warner, theres gotta be one somewhere.
DO you know how to get the friggin axles out?
I can't seem to do it. No c-clips. I'm tryin to put drums on this one, and i need to change the backing plates.

well I know of two 86 T/A cars here that are open. gm can get you the posi you just need to get the numbers off the housing. other wise I might be interested in buying but, see what you can do first I know the posi is out there other wise I would have no use as well.
1st thing what we are use to calling posi are fake positrack. "limited slip" True posi will spinn the rears in exact form and not let one stop while the other is spinning.
"we got ripped"
I know some guys who welded thier spools or differentials togather one of the two and got true posi that way kinda cheap i wouldent do it. The way i recomend, is finding 4x4 parts from a s10 blazer some models had a true posi and the gears will fit an fbody so will the whole rear end. i have a rear end out of an 87 blazer 2.8 and its a true posi. so look at 4x4 parts you might find something there that will help
