knocking sound, driveshaft?? HELP!!!!!
best way to describe it, is sound like a air chisel under the car, but it goes with driveshaft speed, not engine RPM's so it get faster the faster i go.....one would say DUH your drive shaft is hittin something.....well there is no proof of that, as in i just put my trans back it, and in the process i welded flat steel to outside of the TQ arm, so i repainted it, and there is no scrapes in the paint on it or the driveshaft, drive shaft was given to be out of a 40K mile camaro, it has new joints in it and it has fresh paint with no scrapes in it.
sooooo im lost, any ideas, even dumb ideas, or ideas on how to find where its coming from
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

You may want to have the driveshaft balanced or at least checked before you do anything else. Could have thrown a weight....

Re: knocking sound, driveshaft?? HELP!!!!!
Noises are hard to tell over the net, but does it make the noise about every 10 feet or so? I've had a pinion gear crack on me and I thought it was the driveshaft at first too. A visual inspection of the driveshaft and pulling the cover on the diff are good places to start. You can also try putting the car on jackstand, remove the driveshaft for a better look and spin the input on the diff to see if it feels like it binds.
