I have a 91 Formula with the 700R4. Question is, when I turn corners and start to give it gas to take off, even giving it little gas the tranny down shifts, the rpms jump up and then it immediately shifts back up. Any ideas?

Anybody? I thought of something else it does also. Getting on the freeway sometimes it does the same thing. This is at higher rpms obviously. I can be gettingon the freeway and its like the car doesn't know if it should downshift or not. It does the shifts back up again. It does this a couple times before I just get on it and make it down shift and stay. Then its ok.

Sounds like the torque converter clutch engaging then disengaging. Might be a couple of things. Computer doing it (did it always do this), leaking tcc seal on end of input spline, bad tc, or something else??? I'm not really sure but some v8 cars I drove had the same prob revving up then down. Like driving on a rollercoaster.

 

I found the problem. It was low on tranny fluid. Thanks for the input, Ron.
