well one day i noticed i was going down the highway getting up to speed fast... coming out of second gear out of a high rpm trying to go into third gear all it do was grind... it didn't go into third at all... but when i got into town and shifted from a low rpm from second gear it went in easily.. but it kinda felt like if was something in the way but it went in. i asked some people in school and a teacher and they said it was the synchronizer. is it true? if so how much does it cost to fix?

 

ok so one of my friends told me to put it in third and like rock it or push gas let out and so on and i did like two times or so and it didn't kick it out of gear... and it doesn't kick it out of gear at all... so i don't know what the problem is....

 

sounds like worn synchros or the clutch isn't releasing all the way.

 

I had a similar problem when my clutch was not working properly. I would start there. It could be a bent clutch fork or something like that. Does your clutch engage high or low on the pedal?

 

i believe it engages half way through.... don't really know don't pay much attention. how could it be bent? or what would it have caused it to be bent?

 

well i noticed that it also does it in 5th but it grinds for a little bit but it goes into gear.... and i also have another question do t5's have problems going into reverse? cause it seems like mine doesn't want to.... when the car is running and doesn't want to go in reverse i just let the clutch out a bit and it goes in??? is that normal?

 

so i noticed another thing that caught my attention. when i push on my clutch it starts to make a whining noise or some kind of noise... i never noticed it before on my old clutch/transmission and my clutch engages high

 

Monday im adjusting the clutch. but with manual cars how can you tell if the transmission fluid is going dry?
