Eastern Virginia thirdgeners...I need recomendations for a GOOD transmission shop.
thanks for responding, I live in Norfolk now, I'm looking to swap my gelatin 700r4 for either an upgraded street unit like a TCI or somthing like that,(TCC delete) or a "'corvet servo package 2004r, beeefed up,with an extra cooler. anything built up ready for battle
with a good warranty, and reasonable install time, one guy told me it would take a week, that sounds suspisious to me. it doesn't take a week to do a swap! I looked into doing the T-56 swap and it's not going to work out right now,I don't have much time for the junkyards anymore. I don't race anymore, but I know a built-up tranny will hold up longer (for normal driving),I learned my lesson the first time.
I won't have the money to do this again for awhile,so I won't be doing any brake-stands,2nd gear "launches" (dognuts),nightly drag/road racing, police evasions, constant gear chirps and manual downshifts.....fun for the first 10k miles. I'm not 17 anymore either,so it's just not as fun as it used to be. who would you bring your car to for a transmission here in NE Virginia??
'84 Trans Am,305 HO,700r4,3.73 disc.
