Need expert advice from a 700r4 expert
Yeah, this is a bit of an off topic type post, but it is about the f-body and 700r4's. Yesterday, me and a few guys got into a big arguement over the local cop cars. I said they were a stock engine v6, which they are. He was like, "no way, thos are hopped up v8 engines" when asked what made him think that he said "they don't shift into OD until 180 kph, which is about 110 mph. I said big deal, my car wont shift into OD at WOT until about 100. Then the war started. "No way your car can do that" "you're full of crap" and the deluge of b.s. continued. I calmly told them that at WOT, the tranny shifts down to 3rd because of the kickdown valve. Because it's at WOT, it won't shift up to OD until it hits the redline. But no, no one believed me. So, I took one of them out for a little demonstration after school yesterday. I showed him exactly what I was talking about, making two runs up to ~110 mph. The first I shifted the thing manually, the second I didn't. So when In class today, I asked the guy who rode with me to tell everyone else what happened. He's like, yeah, it wouldn't shift until it hits 5500 because the tranny is punked. Some people are complete idiots. So now, I am looking for conclusive PROOF that I am right about the tranny not shifting into 4th at WOT until it hits the redline. Anyone?
Depending on where the 4-3 downshift hole was located on the TV plunger bushing, will determine if the transmission will go from 4th gear to third gear at WOT. If the TV plunger exposes this hole at WOT, then it will be almost impossible to get fourth gear at WOT. Also if the TV cable is loosened (not recommended) the part throttle 4-3 hole would be covered by the plunger valve, then you would get fourth gear. The 1992 Corvettes came with this 4-3 hole in the TV bushing blocked. You can do this yourself by using two small Allen screws to plug the part thottle 4-3 holes, and then grind down the Allen screws to clear plunger valve and valve body bore. This will allow full throttle 3-4 shifts.

By TV Plunger, you mean the little rectangular bit that has the cable in it that is the actual adjusting thing? Sorry for the lack of technical-ish. How exactly does this mod work? Sounds like a great idea, and I just may do it. BTW, I did another high speed run today, and when I was ~100 mph, in 3rd, as my rpm's were climbing around 4000 rpm, they did make a small dive of about 300 rpm. was that the fabled 3-4 WOT shift? Of was that just the TC locking up? Thanks for the help.
