Can a T-5 handle my engine??

Hi, I have a pretty strong engine (nothing spectacular, but stronger than stock) about 340-350hp. It's explained in my signature. Anyways, my car is an orig automatic, and I want a manual BAD. t56's are awesome but too much for me to spend. is there ANY other tranny that is manual, will fit in a 84 camaro, and can handle my engine?? Thank you!!

A Tremec will handle it too, but its just as expensive. An 88-92 World Class T5 will handle the power, but if you race, or power shift it, you will shorten its life tremendously. First and third gears are the problem, and there isnt much you can do to beef it up.

Didn't some 82-84 F bodies come with 4 speeds? Maybe look into that.

the T-5 will be alright provided you do a quality re-build on it, and your extremely nice to it. as said before, powershifting, brakestands, and hard racing will shorten its life a whole lot. Get the WC T-5 too, it's a little bit stronger that the BW, which is what i have behind my 350. Ive had it for over a year now, and no problems so far. (it never been rebuilt either )
