I have an 85 T/A with the L69 motor. I have an aftermarket carb and the kickdown cable is not hooked up! If I pull the cable around by hand it goes to a little boot thing in the front driver's side which seems to be cruise control.... so how does that work and what do I need to do to tighten the cable up

 

Well the kick down cable mounted at the bottem of your old qjet so it's the bottem line. to adjust it just track the kd cable "make sure it is hooked up" and there is a button on the throtle bracket just push down on it with a screw driver and pull back on the cable.
