WC T5 and 68 tooth FW

I searched and can't find a straight answer . Is there any way to make my T5 work with a 168 tooth FW ? I tried hacking enough out of the bellhousing for it to fit , but now the whole tranny gives whenenever the slave pushrod extends out . Is there a different make/model with a bellhousing I can use with the 168 tooth ? Any info is much appreciated .

Thanks in advance

Not positive here but you should be able to use the Lakewood bell PN15020 with the 168 tooth flywheel. It's got the hyd cyl mount and drilled drilled for the T5 (as well as M21/22 and TKO trannys). Just use the clutch/pressure plate for the 168 flywheel as long as it's got a 26 spline clutch you should be fine.

Now we're gettin somewhere . Appreciate the info . There isn't a bellhousing from a ruck or somethin that would fit it though ? I'm tryin to do this for as little money as possible.

Don't think there is anything stock. The T5 for our cars has a unique bolt pattern and is canted 17* off center and it was not offered with the big flywheel AFAIK. The Lakewood runs $450 with shipping.

You could always go with the smaller flywheel, starter and clutch. They made them for 1 and 2 piece rear mains. Probably end up costing about the same $$.

I don't have the starter holes for the smaller setup . This sounds like it' going to be expensive . This sucks .

You can actually drill and tap the extra hole needed to run the smaller flywheel style starter. If you do a search on the boards here, there's been several message threads where people have done it successfully. Most of them were cases where someone is running an older 400 small block, which only has the staggered starter mounting holes used with the larger flywheel. This would be the cheapest solution to your problem. You can pick up another unmolested T5 bellhousing for $50 or less if you look around a bit. You can also pick up a used T5 flywheel for dirt cheap, and get the correct starter dirt cheap at any parts store. You'll need the 83-85, 5.0 liter T5 flywheel. Those fit the 2 piece rms cranks. 86 and newer only fit the 1 piece rms cranks.

Didn't think about that one. He's right, I had to redrill a 400 block for the smaller starter before. It's not that hard if you are familiar with fab work.

For the flywheel, check with Jegs. They have some replacement units for under $100. I think the brand is "Daken" or something like that. If you have them check the shipping weight, you can get the lightweight Corvette unit.

And if you need a stock T5 bell, I have one for sale. Just PM me if interested.
