700R-4 Torque Convertor Question

Ive been getting some mixed messages about this. If I get rid of the emissions and computer control on my car, will the torque convertor still work right? Ive heard it works on the TV cable, which will work with my new Holley carb. And Ive also heard that it works off vacuum, so ill need to run new lines to make up for the vacuum pump. Who is right? Need Info.

Without the computer, the torque converter will still work, but the converter clutch will not. The converter clutch is improves gas mileage in 3rd, and is essential for extended operation in 4th. Several companies make a kit which will make the clutch work without the computer, I like TCI's personally.
