Shift Kits, Which Should I Get??

I Have a 92 700-R4 in my camaro and am going to put in a shift kit soon. I have heard roomers that the b&m kits will tear up our transmissions. I would like a trans-go shift kit. Is this a good choice, and how hard will it be to install? Thanks TWells

Twells,

I believe the rumors are true about the B&M kits. They are too harsh on some of the components. The Transgo kits are very good kits and will not ruin the tranny. If you get the one from summit it will even come with a video that shows you how to install the whole things so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Also where in kansas are you located?
We are having a statewide gathering in wichita on the 14-15.

just get a vette servo and .500 boost valve, you'll get the same results as a shift kit and it'll only cost you $20...

What ron said. I did this to a 4.3L V6 tranny and it chirps the tires in my 82.

How hard is it to install those parts? Do you need to drop the trans or pull the valve body? Does installing that kit do any damage or cause any premature wear to the tranny?

For the servo you might need to lower the trans or loosen the x-member and pry it over to the drivers side (Not unbolting for the motor)

The boost valve you don't have to drop the valve body for. It goes in the pump under a snapring.

I guess your e-mail doesn't seem to work, but I've got a new TransGo shift kit (for 700R4) that's never been opened that I've decided not to install and will sell for $100 shipped (in the US) if you or anyone else is interested...

yup thats what im sayin
some transgo kits come with the vette servo,, itll just make it shift even harder.. id save 100$ and just get these stock gm upgrade parts.. you never know what the shift kit might do to your car and every high performance mechanic i've ever spoke to said NOT to get a shift kit..
sethirdgen.org has a tech article on the vette servo installation..
