torque converter

I see that the converters for the 4 cyl and 6 cyl are smaller than the ones for the v8 with the same trans. Will the smaller one work behind the v8 like a stall converter? We used to use vega converters in our th350 and they stalled around 2300.

Re: torque converter

If the bell housing is different, then the input shaft is different also, and the torque converter to crankshaft hub is too. No, it will not interchange.

Re: torque converter

Old school. - You should see what those vega converts do in a th400 behind a bbc. - They really don't like t-brake launches, but work pretty well foot-braking.

The only drop-in v6 tc is the s10 4.3 converter. IIRC, it's known as a B29 and will give you around a 2k-2200 stall.

Although they work fairly well, just as the vega converter, it's not nearly as efficient as a properly built stall converter.
