Transmission: 700R4, 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Open , 10 Bolt (ukn)
tranny rebuild
hey ladies and gents...
I went around town doing some shoping for my tranmission rebuild and have one guy, who appears to be very thourough in knowledge about the 700R4's and has lots of hi-po parts in stock for 700's. He quoted me $950 on a rebuild with all hard parts included, for another 150 bux, i could get a complete hi-po rebuild which would include the corvette servo, pressure valves, etc, basically everything to the tranny minus the minor stuff needed to say run nitrous. The guy also said he'd hook me up with a 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty. Now, there's another guy who'll rebuild the tranny completely, hook me up with a corvette servo for no additional charge, not to much in the name of other stuff but hadn't really talked to him about much more than the servo, this guy'll do it for $750 with a 3 month warranty.
Now which one is better deal? i know this should go on the tranny board too, and i'll post it there also, i just wanna know from you guys who have v6's and trannys. Oh, the first guy said something about changing it from a 6 plate to an 8 or 9 plate depending on how much the tranny could hold, and improving the clutches between 3-4 gear, saying that those are the weakest clutches on a 700r4. anyway, i'd like some feed back from guys who've had their tranny's rebuilt. something you might want to look into is a gm rebuilt trans. i think they all have 3 year 40,000 mile guarentee. i'm sure it'd cost a little more, but you'd be getting a lot more. buy one for a vett and it'll come with the servo.
