tranny problems, rear end makes lots of noise. help
ok i have a car that is soppose to be putting out about 500 hp on motor. I just got it driving at the beginning of the week. Only for about 50 miles though. The new currie enterprises ford 9inch wines like crazy when im slowing down, and when im crussing (dont know about that). Then when the car is in gear and i start to drive or i put it in gear on jack stands then give it gas the car has a bad vibration (has a new drive shaft it may be that) it only does it when its in gear so i know its not the harmonic balincer. Now the other problem. My 700 r4 has been rebuilt 3 times, With my "500 hp and a 200 shot of nos" i now the tranny will not hold up. It is already having problems. I dont know how to change the shift points witch need to be done badly. When i get on it hard the car will pull then shift a 5500 and the car will pull way past that, and i would like it to shift past 5500. After it shifts it boges, it shifts out of the power band. It also slipes going into 3-4. I need a awsome tranny please help where can i get one?
Thanks
Bobby

There they have a 700R-4 Raptor that will hold to 600 horses, that the tranny I just put in my car but im only pushing 400 horses! They can make a lock-up torque convertor to the RPM's of your needs and are a very good company to deal with! Its a great trnny just call him up and tell him what you want and what your running.

You should give currie a call and ask if they have any ideas. Aftermarket gears are usaully a little noisier than stock but yours sound bad. or maybe they set the gears to the wrong dimentions?
Call Currie as it sounds like the backlash isn't set right. On the trans, you must have the proper TV cable geometry or it will never work right. Second, the 5500 WOT is about max for one of these so you will have to go to manually holding it in gear to the proper shift point.
I would do a couple of things. Get a TransGo Reprogramming Kit and have it installed along with the High Rev Spring Kit that comes with it. W/O it you 3-4's will not hold up at higher RPM's due to centrifical apply of the clutches due to residual oil in the packs. The Spring Kit will keep them alive to @7800RPM. Also get the TransGo HiRev Pump Ring Kit to keep the pump alive and deliver more pressure at HOT WOT. I would have them change either to the ALTO 9 clutch pack (from factory 6) or my favorite, the 4L60E clutch pack assy which uses .106" thick steel to handle the higher heat generated. Next get a Continental torque converter (talk to Chris) and install a TruCool cooler, bypassing the radiator. You might want to use Synthetic ATF but do NOT use Type F oil or 'trick' oils.
