T-5 Rebuild?

I plan on doing a 350 swap in the near future, and i have a T-5 transmission(currently a 305 TBI motor.)

I really love the fun you get with a 5-speed, and dont want to settle with a T56. Its a good tranny, but not enough fun for me.

My question, Is it worth it to replace the clutch assembly and replace the syncros, or do the problems go deeper? And I dont plan to drive the hell out of it, but it will most likely see some track time.

Any advice would be awesome =]

Re: T-5 Rebuild?

the settle would be for the t5... the t56 is a much better trans all around. more favorable gear ratios in the first 4 gears and double over drive in the end.

plus the t56 is stronger by ALOT.

the T5 can be rebuilt with stronger gears but the case is the weak point. It will get demolished by the 350 is just a matter of when.

Re: T-5 Rebuild?

Someone should make a stronger case for the T-5. I like the little transmissions, but they just aren't strong enough. I have been through 5 in my 3.4 S10 truck.
