700-R4 Probelms

I have a 92 Camaro and just the other day i think the tranny went out but im not sure. 1st and 2nd work fine but when it is in overdrive it wont shift into overdrive. I dont know much about the 700-R4 but i was wondering if it is something small. The tranny does have 190,000 miles on it i believe but it leads me to think that its not the tranny that went out but some electrical or mechanical problem. I noticed the overdrive slipping before but let it go. If anyone has any idea of what happened, let me know. Could it be something simple???

The seals for the overdrive servo are not holding fluid pressure as they used to, thereby the 2-4 band material will start to glaze losing its holding ability (no 4th) & possible low pressure due to the many miles you have, etc. As things wear the leaks/crossleaks in the transmission get more pronounced, as this can be expected with as many miles as you have. The 1992 & early 1993's 700R4's came with the most fixes (updates) from the factory. I have seen many of these with well over 150K miles still in fair shape as compared with earlier 700R4's. Second gear (uses the same 2-4 band) might still hold for a little while. When this problem occured did the shift points at light throttle change? If it did (& the shifts got earlier) then the TV cable lost its adjustment. But with as many miles as you have, this can/might be expected.
Hope This Helps!!!

Yes it did. Earlier it was slipping. You could tell the shifts points were changed. I assume the transmission is shot. DO you know were I could get one rebulit for cheap.
