87 IROC Tranny

My buddy has an 87 IROC with a TH350, B&M shift kit and megashifter. Ever since the shift kit was installed every now and then he loses the tranny, absolutely nothing at all no gears, so he parks it for awhile to get the cash to take it to a shop to get it looked at and when he jumps in it works fine again. It happened again today but he only had first gear, then as he pulled into a parking lot to get me to tow him, he all of a sudden got the rest of the gears back. Would you guys have any idea what is goin on with that? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

A) B&M doesn't make a Shift Kit
B) Sounds like the throttle valve is sticking. Try and see if it shifts, but very late, like you have full throttle.

Actually, no, they don't make a Shift Kit, they make what they call a Shift Improver Kit. The reason that I make a point of this is that too often people confuse the two and could blame the wrong company for a problem or form the wrong opinion.
I do agree with your assesment of it though!
