Noob question about turbo 350 trans. :s

Aight so ive been needing a tranny for a while, just something cheap. I found a turbo 350 tranny that comes with torque converter. Now i'm not to keen on transmissions, so for the sake of putting my parania to rest, the turbo 350 will bolt up to my 350 tpi? I wouldn't wanna buy the wrong part after all.

Although it will fit, it's not a direct replacement into a third gen. You'll need a conversion kit or will need to do some modifications.

The transmission crossmember isn't in the correct position. A conversion kit has an adapter to reach the tranny mount which will be about 2" forward from where the 700R4 mount is.

Third gens have a torque arm suspension. The front of the torque arm is mounted off the back of the transmission. A conversion kit provides a new mount bracket to install the torque arm on the transmission.

A simpler way to do the swap is to install an aftermarket torque arm with the proper tranny crossmember. The aftermarket torque arm moves the front mount off the transmission and onto the crossmember.

Re: Noob question about turbo 350 trans. :s

moonlight-the profile says 4l60e-what gives. at most the trans is a 4l60. The th350 you want is the long one. it measures 9" housing on the back of the TH350 so that it will be the same length as the 700r4-4l60 it is replacing. It is called a long th350 with the 9 inch housing. THe driveline will fit this one also.
