I was looking at my trans lines today on my '86 700-R4 and they don't look quite right. For one, they are in three parts with two compression fittings in each line. That doesn't really bother me though. What does concern me is the first part of the lines coming out of the trans have to do a quick turn downward. At the point they turn downward the line flattens out some. It's not crimped but it's not a mandrel bend either. My concern is flow will be more restricted than it should. I would be interested to know how other's lines look in this area. Thanks for any info.

Someone obviously has been in there before. I would change it and get a smoother turn at that point. I have seen trannies cook from things like that.

When I replaced my tranny last year, I just put rubber lines in there. I used the ends from the metal lines and clamped the rubber tubes to them with double clamps. This way I was able to re-route them away from the engine and didn't have to fight with the metal lines to get them in "just right"...

i think i'd be replacing the lines. i like steel lines. i bought a bender for 10 dollars at a cart show that makes great bends and doesn't kink or smash the line.

I bought some hose barb fittings that would fit the tranny and used 250 psi air line for the lines and used odicer clamps all around.
Works great and no leaks.

I wouldn't use any hose except for a short run to hook a cooler up. Hose near a header pipe carrying trans fluid is just asking for a fiery disaster.
