Hey guys i have a 700r4 it a 1990 but am swapping to a 96 LT1. I want a 3000 stall but theirs a 27 spline and 30 spline which one?

86 1/2- 92 use the 30-spline shaft

 

Want a 3000 stall or need a 3000 stall. I really doubt you need a 3000 stall. If the camshaft is still stock, I wouldn't recommend more than 2400.

 

No i will be going with a bigger cam not sure witch one yet.

the difference between 27 and thirty is 3.eh?
correct spline for a late 700r4 is 30. with trans out the input shaft is the one to count-it is the one at the front of the trans that spins, not the stationary one which is the stator.

 

I think 1984 is when the 700r4 went to 30 spline,my'85
model(8-84 mfg)700r4 is 30 spline.

 

it is possible to use 30 spline stuff in the early ones below 86 1/2, but it requires replacing the pump-input drum-reverse input drum and input/output seal. among re-setting endplay etc. Your trans is a crossbreed probably from someone with a better idea than the old stuff, my old boss who taught me how to build many moons ago used to like to do that upgrade with success but I personally think it's a waste when internally the 27 spline drum properly built is fine.note:with the trans apart the drum will tell the year on it right next to where the shaft meets the aluminum-pull your trans apart and tell us what year it is if your're froggy 8t2 z-chev.
