WHATS THE DIFFEENCE ?
The Trans-Pak is a combo B&M Shift IMPROVER kit and O/H kit. A Shift Kit is made by TransGo (ONLY). The actual Shift Kit is not available to the general public because it requires knowledge and experience to install it. It is solely developed to correct the causes of complaints and failures in a transmission. It often takes several years and several hundred thousand dollars to develop and is improved and refined as more input comes in. On the other hand the Shift Improver Kit is rather simple to develop as it's goal is to make the shifts go 'Bang' much like popping the clutch on a standard. The R&D involves finding and blocking the accums and locating the feed holes and seeing just how big a hole they can put in the plate. Then add higher line pressure for good measure and Viola! Done, maybe a weeks worth of effort.
TransGo does make a Reprogramming Kit (also called a High Performance Shift Kit to take advantage of their trademarked name that includes the fixes of the SHift Kit with the changes necessary to handle HD/HP use. I do not know the cost of the B&M stuff since I only remove them. The TransGo stuff starts at @70.

Fastbroker found out for us that the B&M Transpak for our 700r4 transmissions is just a B&M Shift Improver Kit. The only difference? With the TransPak, you get a new trans filter added to the box! Even the installation instructions are the same.
