diff in bellhousings for hyd. and mech.

Does the difference in hydraulic and mechanical bellhousing make them non-interchangeable?
I have a hydraulic 2.8 bellhousing that I want to use with mechanical linkage will that work?

Thanks,

Absolutely not. The bellhousings are different (thus making the mechanical clutch T5 bellhousing a one-year only item in 83).

I'm not saying you're wrong, but...
I looked and don't see any reason why you can't use a mechanical linkage with a hydraulic belhousing. Using a hydraulic actuator won't work on an '83 bellhousing (without a hydraulic throwout bearing), but I don't see why the other way around would be a problem. It's entirely possible that I'm overlooking something though.

Car: Looking for an f-body
I did this with the v-8. Used a v-8 hydraulic bellhousing, but used mechanical linkage, fork, etc. Should be same for v-6

Hey jersrjr,

Did you do it?! I thought it would work. Got the car running yet?

Thanks jersrjr.

what about the spring that goes from the frame to ¿what looks like the fork? (pict in the book is not very good) where does the other end go? maybe a hole in the end of the fork?

another question:
what about the Zbar were they all the same length?
if not does any body have the exact length of the 2.8 Zbar?

Thanks guys!!

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought he wanted to use a hydraulic clutch linkage on a mechanical clutch bellhousing.

I honestly don't know if you can do it the other way around, though it sounds as though some people have done it.
