Will not always go into Park

And sometimes when in Reverse it will knock but if play with the shifter it will be fine. But the problem with Park is that when it is warm out it will not always go into part. So I have to push the shift lever really really hard to get it to lock into park. How do I fix this problem it is starting to really make me mad.

It could be a bad or binding cable or the pawl is worn and isn't engaging the output carriers teeth corectly. If you drop the pan and look up in there, in park the linkage 'bells' out pressing a pawl into the cutouts. Maybe finding a way to tighten this up will cure the problem.
