you will need to find a trans that came off either a 2.8 or 3.1 v6. the 2.8/3.1 are 60* V6's and have a much different bolt pattern than a SBC. and you can't take the bell housing off an auto trans, only a manual

Fixing the original is a good option if there is no major
"hard parts" problems with the original.

what were the symptoms of yours when it went out? maybe it doesn't need to be replaced.

it doesn't want to shift out of 1st and if it does it is a hard shift into a slipping second. what can i do to other than maybe change fluid and filter. or check the tv cable( not sure what proper adjustment is supposed to be). thanks alot guys... is there still hope for my transmission.

i have another 700r4 from my old blown 2.8 but im not sure if its good its been sitting for over 5 years. i might just swap it in. how hard is it i changed the motor myself so i am mech inclined.

you might try a jet servo (similar to t.c.i's)-it will hold the band tighter than a stock servo (the band is for second and fourth). I like that servo, and you don't have to pull the trans to do it. As a bonus if it is already in during a rebuild it is one less thing to buy.
