I need help ASAP!!!!!

My trans shifts fine through 1st, 2nd, and drive. It will shift into overdrive when it is supposed to, but it hesitates when i step on it. It does downshift, but it takes way more pedal to get it to do so. It is NOT slipping though. It just seems really hard coming out of overdrive??? I guess i notice it most when i try to go from OD to drive to accelerate on the expressways. It seems to have gotten slow and i have to step on the gas harder now. It's a 1991 bird with a 3.1. If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

Could it be a cable adjustment problem? Could the tv cable just come out of adjustment? Every other gear is fine. I noticed my fluid is a little pink. Would a fluid and filter change maybe help? please guys, help me. I have to take this car on a 1200 mile trip at the end of this month. So i need to know if i will be buying a new tranny or fixing this one. thank you

I know some of you have read this. Could someone please respond? I had a mechanic adjust the tv cable but it did not help. When in overdrive, when i start to accelerate it starts to raise the rpms like it should(without downshifting) but then it bogs down until i step into it enough for it to go back to drive. thanks for any info.

Your fluid is a little pink? It should be all pink or red. If it is brownish or black, or has a burnt smell to it, change it immediately.

The typical first recommendation for auto tranny problems is the change the fluid and filter. If the fluid has been damaged, it's best to get all the old stuff flushed out.

Try This: To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal floored, press the D button and pull the cable back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.
