27 spline is the splines on the pinion. All 7.5" have a 27 spline pinion so the driveshaft yoke will fit.
26 and 28 spline carrier (posi) is the amount of splines on the axles. 82-89 third gens with a 10 bolt have 26 spline axles. 90+ are 28 spline axles however you can upgrade the older cars to 28 spline with axles from a 90-92 or aftermarket axles and a 28 spline posi.
