T5 w/ 350 motor

I read some where that a T5 tranny isn't strong enough to handle a 350ci motor, and that you should or have to use a T56 tranny. Does this claim hold true?

It's true if you don't know how to drive and be friendly to the 5 speed

if you abuse it, it will die

I have my stock T5 behind my ~500 TQ TPI engine, and so far I've had to replace the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros, and the gears themselves. If you race it, it'll break, but I'm sure if you just drive it around normally, it'll work for a very long time.

Kevin, are you still using the 52mm TB....do you feel you might need a 58mm?
Thanks, Rick

Nope, its my belief a 52mm is fine for a long-runner TPI intake. You only need a 58mm if you're running nitrous, a blower/turbo, or if you have a SuperRam or MiniRam.

If you have the borg warner world class t-5 then you should be fine, the wc t-5 is stronger.
