NOOOOO!!!!!
NOOOOO!!!!!
Uhhhg, last night I was driving from San Jose to San Luis Obispo in my '78 vette and a very bad thing happened...No accident, nothing like that, but still. I was crusing along at about 70 on the 101 just south of King City when I came across two HUUUGE dips. The first one sent me airborn and I landed on the second. There was no warning, no signs. I didn't even have any cars in front of me to warn me with brake lights. I bottomed out, ripped the exhaust open at the front y-pipe and broke something in the transmission. All this happens TWO WEEKS after I finish the installation of my 700R4. Anyways, I was able to patch the exhaust up on the side of the road well enough to drive it and the transmission still drove okay so I was able to make it home, but I had to stop every 10 minutes or so and add a quart of transmission fluid to keep the thing full. Basically, it appears the tranny is leaking from the front pump seal. If I hit so hard that it actually made contact with the fly wheel/TC assembly, could it have damaged that seal? I'm debating on what to do here and all suggestions would be more than appreciated. Thanks guys!
Boy, that sucks! It seems to me that if you hit hard enough to have damaged the front seal, you should pull the trans back out and inspect for damage. You need to replace at least the front seal anyways and there's no telling what else may have broken. Hopefully that's all it is but I seriously doubt it. Sorry to be so negative, Good Luck!
