Re: My TKO-600 Swap Thread...

the tko uses a different shifter than a t5, so if you were planning to mod your t5 shifter, it wont work.

as for the tko, it comes with a hurst shifter, which can be modified. I have one in the garage thats been modified by Fortes. I swapped in a Steeda Tri-ax, and with a little lengthening of the shifter stick, its about perfect.

What shifter could I get that would retain the stock shifter height? I don't like the short throw shifters.

Re: My TKO-600 Swap Thread...

I have not, nor do i think there is, a stock style shifter for our vehicles for the TKO transmission. The Closest thing to stock feeling is the shifter that comes on the TKO. It will have to be mod'ed to put the shifter stick in the correct location but the actual feel of the shifter throw is closer to stock feeling than it is to a short throw shifter. Take it from me because i had a hurst on the t-5 right before i went to the TKO.

the stock shifter, modified to set back properly, and hurst makes a straight handle that is about the same height installed as stock.

I used to use that setup, and i have the modified shifter, handle and **** sitting on a shelf, if you want it, i can make you a good deal on it. the handle was pricy though, almost 100 new, i think it was supposed to be for a c3 vette. Its all practicably new, only about 2k miles on it

this is the modified shifter

Are you saying that the stock shifter can be used or are you talking about the shifter that comes with the tko?

So all I have to do is make that little metal plate and buy a straight stick from hurst? Where would I buy the hurst stick you are talking about?

Re: My TKO-600 Swap Thread...

This thread is about 10 years old. You're probably better off starting a new thread. FWIW, I did the TKO 600 swap and didn't use any bell adapter. -and I just used a regular stock replacement TOB.

***Edit, without the adapter, I used a Lakewood 10502 bellhousing to add safety, and to realign the transmission angle.
