tranny problems
I know of 2 4th gen birds that have hsd there tranny replaced under 50,000miles. I knew the 700r4 has had some problems with the clutch packs. But does anyone know why the 4l60 are failing so much. A freind asked me the question so I thought post it and see what you everyone thinks.

Essentially they are the same tranny. There are problems in the pressure rise system (how it react to increased torque load) which lead to slippage and ultimate failure. This is the biggest weak point but there are others that are mostly parts breakage, such as the Sun Shell (1st, 3rd and No Rev) and the eventual sprag failure, which occasionally takes out other parts.
