Flywheel gurus....please help.
I am running an 89 TPI 5.7 in a 57 chevy 2 door post.
I'm putting a M-21 behind it.
My question is, what flywheel do I need to get.??
Obviously its got to be a 153 tooth, but does anyone have a part number or a number of someone I can call for such an item.??
Can I just use a 305 flywheel from a T-5??
Any help here is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can use a T-5 flywheel, but I would use a McLeod clutch #260709 or #260710 (one is heavier than the other) with a 10-spline disc. The reason? Because a 153- tooth flywheel has a 10 1/2 bolt pattern and all the other manufacturers make the disc that fits it 10.4 in diameter. The McLeod is 10.95 or .050 less than 11". (Be sure to verify those part #'s as I might have transposed the #'s)
McLeod is in Ca. Ph. # 1-(714)-630-2764
Oh yeah, BTW the owner is doing the same as you ('57 Chev 2 dr post).

I thought the M21 used the 168 tooth flywheel?
Either way the 305 piece will work. My stock clutch was able to bolt to both the 153 and 168 tooth wheels. One thing to consider is do you want a light weight wheel or a heavy one? The 305 one is a light design, at least signifigantly(sp?) lighter than the two 168 teeth wheels I have. Depending on the use and the weight of the car you might want a heavier wheel.

The trans does not care what flywheel is in front of it. The Muncie will work with any flywheel.
You will need a flywheel for a one-piece crank. Beyond that, what BH are you using? If possible, I would suggest you use a 14" one if it will fit in your BH, maybe a late-model truck came with that combo. Then you'd be able to use an 11" clutch, with the disc having whichever splines your trans has (if it's really a M-21, it's 1-1/16" 10-spline). The right clutch would be the one for something like a 69 Chevelle SS396.
If you don't mind running a 10.4" clutch, then the 305 flywheel would work fine. I'm not exactly sure how to order the right clutch for it; but it would be a 10.4" disc with 10 splines.
Of course you would need to select the starter to match the flywheel size. If you end up with a 14", a 3510 starter should work; if you use the 12¾" one, the stock 305 T-5 starter would be the one.
