Rear axle questions
OK, now that the stock posi in my IROC's 2.73 diff is on its way out, I'm seriously considering swapping in lower gears for better acceleration off the line. Actually the real reason for wanting lower gears is that I'll be swapping in a T-5 real soon and I know T-5 cars came with lower axle ratios than the auto cars.
What I need to know is:
1. What axle ratio did the T-5 cars have? I know was a 3.something.
2. Will lower gears swap into the lame 10 bolt housing I have currently or do I need to swap the entire housing too? I would prefer to swap the entire axle housing since I can do it myself, plus a G92 axle might have disc brakes on it.
3. How much will a junkyard rear end (with discs and the 3.something ratio of course) cost? How much if it doesn't have discs?
4. I know V6 thirdgens, manual or auto, had lower axle ratios than their auto V8 counterparts. Would a rear axle from one be able to live behind a 305 TPI, and would it have discs?
I know that's a bunch of questions but I appreciate all the help I can get. I really want to fix my car up while I still have the time and money before school starts again. Thanks

'88 IROC 305 TPI
Crappy 700R4 slushbox
Gutted airboxes
180 degree T-stat
Advanced base TPS voltage
Relocated IAT sensor
Momo steering wheel (gotta luv it)
Ram-air setup coming soon
Flowmaster muffler (puke)
Taylor SpiroPro wires
Accel cap and rotor
Ported plenum
Kills: '94 Z28, Olds Aurora V8, bunch of Mustangs, T-birds, ricers, and others who assumed a 12 year-old car would be too slow.
