TV Cable is Stuck
TV Cable is Stuck
The TV cable is stuck on my son's 1984 with 700R4 and 305v8. The guy I bought th car from was a real serious shade tree mechanic and I've fixed "nearly" all the vaccum leaks and she's ready to drive. Anyway the TV cable was working then stuck. Do I have to drop the tranny to access it ?
Thank You

No you do not have to but you will have to first, disconnect it at top then at the tranny take out a 10 MM bolt that holds the cable in place.
Are you sure that it is the cable? While they do frey and stick sometimes, more often it is the Throttle Valve that is sticky.

If that's the case (the valve is stuck) what's your recommendation ?
I understand that your the a "certified" mechanic, me I'm just certifiable
So I will appreciate your ideas.

I am probably starting to sound like a broken recod now but I would get the TransGo Reprogramming Kit. It includes a totally redesigned TV System that is part of their Shift Kit (patented). It includes a new valve and when you see it and feel it installed in the VB you will understand why this is no longer a problem!
This TV System is THE primary FIX for 700's (and 200-4R's, by the way). Without it, all of the Vette Servo's and .500 boost valves don't mean anything for longevity. They may give high performance 'FEEL', just not longevity.
