SmokinG DeaL

made a nice deal today.
I bought a low miles 1994 firebird rearaxle, 3.23 with posi, for 200 euro's

(that is not much for european normes, we dont have that much american cars here like you americans do)

It will go under the camaro '84, 1 problem though:

The maro has drumbrakes, but i have discbrakes with calipers and all from an Iroc.

I was hoping that i could easily install the discs on the 4th gen axle but the discs wont slide over the end of the axles (i can grind that of some, it isnt much)

the calipers with the caliperdisc (dont know what its called exactly) should bolt on.

are the 4thgen brakediscs wider at the inside? I know the 3th gen drumbrake-axles have also a wider end where 3thgen discs dont fit.

Re: SmokinG DeaL

Just swap the entire 4th gen rear end in...Or does yours have better posi & gears/the posi & gears you want?

Re: SmokinG DeaL

I guess you were wanting to put 3rd gen brakes on the 4th gen axle? Never heard of anyone wanting to put 3rd gen brakes on a 4th gen axle. Dunno if it is even possible.

I'd just find a 4th gen set up. Bigger & better brakes.

Re: SmokinG DeaL

89-97 use the same PBR calipers but, the 4th gen caliper mounting plates are different and the rotors have a different offset. The drum brake axles had a larger flange than cars with disc, you may be able to have the flange cut down to fit the rotors. Also, the housing on drum cars is different than disc cars. Ed Miller has adapter plates or you might be able to modify what you have. Good luck
